The Center, a not-for-profit United Way agency, believes all adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) should have opportunities to promote choice, personal growth, and independence so they may achieve their full potential. The Center upholds this belief by offering high-quality residential, vocational, and day services to support our clients and our community.
The Center’s Vocational Program, Momentum, provides work training and wage earning opportunities for over 140 adults with I/DD.
Our partnerships with both Houston-area and nationwide businesses allow The Center’s vocational programs to thrive–teaching workplace skills and important life skills, and incorporating our teaching environment–and maintain all of this with a wage-earning environment of care and support to our team members. Each business contract allows The Center and its Momentum program to provide clients of all levels of ability the opportunity to earn a wage and train for work outside The Center by learning important skills such as individual work commitment, team work environment and support, the role of individual success in achieving the team goal, and pride in our work.
Each team member takes pride in his or her work and performing as a valuable member of the team. Team leaders work with teach team member, coaching and supporting them toward excellence each step of the way.
Quality Assurance means each job is reviewed by Quality staff and management supervisors to ensure each job is fulfilled above the expectation of the customer.
The packing, assembly, cane furniture repair, and landscaping rates may be a bit less than other providers, but our work product is MORE than exceptional! We take pride in our work, and you can be proud to Go Local, and Do Good with The Center Houston’s Momentum programs!
